The Tokyo International Film Festival has shown lndonesian films continually since the 19805, but this time it is introducing a new generation of films. Japan-born Teddy Soeriaatmadja’s Lovely Man depicts the reunion between a father who works as a prostitute and his Muslim daughter, while his Something in tire Way examines the love of a lonely young man who is both addicted to pornography and a devout Muslim.

Angga Dwimas Sasongko's ﬁlosoﬁ Kopi is a featured work that depicts—in a way befitting a country that is home to famous coffee bean production areas like Bali, Toraja, and Sumatra—the challenges of young people who are filled with a love of coffee.

The lineup also includes the first screenings in Japan of films by rising female directors such as Nia Dinata-a pioneer in LGBT films—and Kamila Andini of The Mirror Never Lies. Don’t miss these depictions of love’s variety by Indonesia’s new generation!
