Special Jury Prize : All Three of Us
DSC_0047.JPG"All three of Us in reality is more than a film in my eyes as it is the life of my parents. Their real life. They experienced some incredible things, hardships some more demanding than others. But they were always smiling. I made this film to honor them, in honor of their positivity, their zest for life and humor. This film is a hymn to the family."

Award for Best Diector & WOWOW Viewer's Choice Award: Mustafa Kara of 'Cold of Kalandar'

Cold of Kalandar comes out of a pure "storytelling passion", narrating a story in a way far from artificiality, sincerely, realistically and consistently. Our prominent objective is to display little dramas, ordinary stories, family and neighborhood relationships, the relations between nature, animals and human beings in a remote and intact mountain village of the Black Sea region in order to make the modern man feel the subtle meaning of these relationships. Staying loyal to the reality while using technical and esthetical potentials of the cinema is an outstanding feature of this film."

Award for Best Artistic Contribution : Family Film
DSC_0034.JPG
"In Family Film I play with the idea of alienation within the family unit, and I also investigate ways of 'reassembling' the family. I am interested in what happens when we remove the figures of the king and queen from the 'family game of chess': which family members become the main actors? How are the roles divided? How is responsibility transferred to others within the family? In order to discover the role that the family plays in today's society and which values it represents I dismantle and reconstruct the family into various possible functional units."

Audience Award : God Willing

"When I started thinking about this film, I would never have imagined that it could take me so far from home. I'm really happy of this wonderful occasion to screen the movie at the Tokyo International Film Festival, and I really hope that the Japanese audience
will appreciate this little Italian story, that faces with a smile a universal theme."

Best Asian Future Film Award : The Island Funeral

"Laila sets out on a road trip to Pattani, one of the three southernmost Thai provinces, to visit her long-lost aunt. Her brother and his friend are tagging along. The three take off from Bangkok during a time when the capital is going through radical conflict. Being from the city has prevented them from realizing much about the violent outbreaks that have been occurring around Pattani for many years. Meeting a suspicious soldier sent to fight the insurgents, the four head together to find Laila's aunt, where the route is leading them to discover a land stranger than that they are familiar with."

The Spirit of Asia Award by the Japan Foundation Asia Center : Degena Yun of 'A Simple Goodbye'
DSC_0024.JPG
"This film expresses feeling in a highly obscure way. It presents a seemingly desultory time period to tell the story of two generations. A young girl who's confused about what lies ahead is sent to England to receive education from childhood. She Indulges herself in cyberlove and cannot get herself out of the hurtful affair. A middle-aged father who's perplexed about death left his hometown for Beijlng when he was young. He feels helpless about the status quo of the state-owned film studio. Tortured by terminal diseass, he gives up the hope to live on."

Japanese Cinema Splash, Best Picture Award : Ken and Kazu
DSC_0027.JPG
"Hiroshi Shoji's feature directorial debut, based on his eponymous 2011 short. Partners in crime Ken and Kazu use an auto repair shop to sell drugs and make money. When Ken's girlfriend Saki gets pregnant, he does his best to go straight. But Kazu makes a dangerous move, and Ken comes to draw the attention of the local Yakuza boss and is slowly driven into a corner. Obsession, sense of indebtedness, connection and future is portrayed against the backdrop of drug dealings in the underworld. Leading actors Shinsuke Kato and Katsuya Maiguma's impassioned performances, as well as supporting actors' intense sense of presence are worthy of note."
